Chantilly VA Commercial Grease Trap Maintenance

Chantilly VA commercial grease trap maintenance is just as unpleasant as it is everywhere else.  It’s a dirty, messy job.  In fact, it’s so messy and unpleasant that most restaurant owners would just as soon outsource it to keep from having to deal with it themselves.

We totally understand that.  It’s a tough job, but someone’s got to do it, and we’re the company to call!  We’ve been proudly serving the region since 1977 and are Chantilly VA’s #1 commercial grease trap maintenance company.  There’s not much our team of experts haven’t seen, so even if it’s been a while since you’ve had maintenance performed, we can handle the job.

Regular cleanouts are the single biggest component of proper Chantilly VA commercial grease trap maintenance, but that’s not the only thing that matters.  A cleanout service includes:

  • Draining of the tank and removal of all waste grease
  • A thorough cleaning and inspection of all baffles
  • An end to end system test to ensure that all waste is flowing as it should
  • Proper disposal of all material pumped from the grease trap

In addition to that, it’s also important to inspect your system to make sure that it’s configured properly.  For instance, you want to be sure that all of your food prep and wash sinks are tied to the trap, that the trap is big enough to handle the flow of waste through the system (this will both help prevent a backup, and result in less frequent cleanouts:  a properly sized grease trap will need to be cleaned approximately every four to six weeks), and making sure that your dishwasher is not tied into the system.

This last is especially important, because the hot water from the dishwasher will dissolve the grease in the trap, allowing it to flow into your septic system, or if you’re tied to the city’s sewage system, into that.

You also want to make sure that you don’t have a garbage disposal unit connected to the trap, and it’s very important to avoid pouring chemicals, additives, drain cleaners, or bleach into a grease trap, as they can kill beneficial bacteria and potentially pose an environmental hazard.

Finally, don’t believe any hype you hear about commercially available biological agents or enzymes.  Many companies offer products for sale that supposedly help keep your grease trap clean.  None of these are more effective than a conventional, periodic cleanout, and could cause complications that will lead to a system backup, which could force you to close your doors for several days while the issue is addressed.  You’re much better off just saving your money!

If you’re not sure how long it’s been since you’ve had expert eyes on your grease trap, give us a call to schedule an appointment.  We’ll be there when you need us.
