HomeAid

Our March Charity is HomeAid.

HomeAid was founded in 1989, by the Orange County chapter of the Building Industry Association of Southern California (BIA/SC), an affiliate of the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB). In 1995, HomeAid America (HAA) was created to expand the effort throughout the country. Since that time, HomeAid has expanded to 19 chapters and has inspired the building industry, the business community, governments, and volunteers to take action to help those in need.

Celebrating “30 Years of Building the Way Home,” HomeAid has provided housing for more than 330,000 individuals who would have otherwise been homeless due to circumstances beyond their control, including:

  • Abused children
  • Victims of domestic violence
  • At-risk teens
  • Returning military veterans
  • Those who are temporarily out of work
  • Victims of natural disasters and other catastrophes

Through the generosity of America’s builders, their trade partners, financial institutions, and the public, HomeAid has built more than 550 shelter projects valued at more than $230 million, of which nearly 50 percent was donated in-kind by the building industry. These shelters provide more than 10,500 beds per night nationwide with each bed serving an average of three people per year.
